Master caster George Laurie is reproducing them for those of us who love 1957 DeSotos (and 1958 models too!) George sent me a set of the raw towers from his shop in Australia to test-fit onto a 1957 DeSoto. I had an old set of surrounding frames so I test-fit the towers into the frames. I also put a set of the superb rear lenses (George makes them, also!) into one tower to check how things will work. The rear set-in brace that George added needed a slight modification for clearance, but otherwise things looked GREAT. I shipped the towers back to him.
George tried electro-chroming them, but was having many difficulties, so the current plan is to vacuum chrome them (then clearcoat) until the electro-chroming problems can be worked out. Note that George set in some washers so that the taillight bulbs have something firm to snap into.
